The folks at HP Original Ink asked if I would like to share my must have checklist of favorite items for Halloween parties. Given that I’m an obsessive list maker, and needed to make a new list for this year’s Trunk Or Treat, I said sure! Every year we return to my oldest daughter’s preschool to attend their annual Trunk Or Treat. It’s one of our favorite events and I love the small town feeling it gives our Halloween. It’s also fun to watch the kids grow (okay, it’s sad, but I’ll call it fun – I mean look at my oldest from a little two to an almost tween with her preschool BFF!).
Over the years our list of what to bring to trunk or treat has grown and changed. We’ve gone from just sitting chairs outside our cars, to decorating our trunks to sharing a pop up tent with friends and decorating that. We’ve gotten serious about our trunk or treat experience and what we bring and how we do it, and I always need a list or I will forget many things (I am an expert at forgetting). From decorations to costumes for the kids to dinner to candy to hand out, there is a lot to remember.
Some of the must haves for us are our decorating supplies. Sure you want spider webs and streamers, but you also have to remember the tape, scissors and rope. And what fun is darkness without Halloween lights? And spooky music helps to set the atmosphere for the evening. Balloons and streamers are great for filling in any gaps in the decorating.
We usually pick up a pizza on our way there, but have to remember to bring our other must haves for dinner, including an ice chest of drinks, fruit, pretzels or chips, some yummy Halloween desserts, paper towels, paper plates and hand wipes to clean up. Because the trunk or treat starts in the afternoon, with fun activities for the kids, we bring their costumes and put them on at dusk when it’s time for the kids to make the rounds and collect their candy.
Candy is clearly a must have. I try to bring options that are nut free and gluten free, as having a child with a nut allergy I know it’s a bit of a bummer when you can’t have anything that is offered to you. And of course you want to make sure to bring along some sweatshirts (here in AZ you never know what to expect on Halloween weather wise), some chairs and even some blankets.
And of course you can not forget your camera! You don’t want to miss out on these moments. Over the past three years at Trunk or Treat, our family has gone from just getting our approval to start the adoption process, to adopting our beautiful G, to having her grow into a spunky little toddler.
Making and printing out my list ahead of time helps to make sure that I bring everything I need and can spend the evening enjoying the time with my girls and catching up with friends from our preschool days. HP Printer Ink is perfect for printing out your list, especially when you like to make them colorful the way I do (for some reason the color helps keep me more organized and makes the list more fun to look at!). HP delivers unparalleled quality and peace of mind to customers, who know that they can count on their Original HP ink and HP printing system to deliver reliability and value every time. They also make sure that your photos (and memories) look great when printed out.
