Ingredients
- Milk – Whole or 2% milk is preferable, as it will give your hot chocolate a nice creamy consistency. You are welcome to use a non-dairy milk as well, just try to go with an unsweetened variety.
- Chocolate syrup – Personally I like Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Syrup, but any chocolate syrup will work.
- Starlight peppermint candies – The candies are crushed and give the cocoa a wonderful peppermint flavor. You could also crush candy canes if desired.
Directions
- In small saucepan, heat milk, chocolate syrup, and peppermints on low to medium low heat. Stir or whisk until milk is hot and peppermints have dissolved. Do not overheat or boil milk.
- Serve in a mug. Top with whipped cream or mini marshmallows and crushed peppermints if desired.
