There are many different ingredients that you can add to this board to make it your own. However, if you like what you see in the pictures and want to know what they are and where to get them, I’ve compiled a list of the ingredients I used in the board, and where to get them below:
- Hot Chocolate Mini Marshmallow Sticks
- Macarons
- Peppermint Puffs
- Chocolate Dipped Spoons
- Hot Chocolate Bombs
- Wafer Cookies
- Vanilla Meringues
- Marshmallow Twists
- Pirouette Cookies
- Candy Canes
- Malt Balls
- Caramels
- Frosted Pretzel Stars
- Flavor Syrups or Sauces such as Torani
You don’t have to use these ingredients at all, these are just suggestions. You can also add things like whipped cream, caramel sauce, cinnamon sticks, cinnamon sugar, crushed up gingerbread cookies or Oreos, coconut flakes, Andes mints, etc. Some places to get ingredients for a hot chocolate board like this are Home Goods, Trader Joes, Target, Big Lots, even Amazon or any regular grocery store. Some other great places are Sprouts or WinCo where they have the bulk bins.
Hot Chocolate
Now let’s talk Hot Chocolate! You can just put out your hot chocolate mix of choice on the board like how it’s shown in the pictures, and serve with some hot milk or water. One of the fun things about this is that you can offer a few different flavors of hot cocoa, or even offer a non-dairy option.
You can also serve the hot chocolate already made on the side and the board can be strictly toppings instead. This Crockpot Hot Chocolate Recipe is perfect to serve with a board of toppings.
How To Make a Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board
- Start by grabbing a board of your choosing and place the hot chocolate mix in the center. (If you aren’t using hot chocolate mix skip this step completely or put a bowl of an ingredient of your choice in the center)
- Next, fill in the rest of the board with your ingredients/toppings of choice.
- Once the board is full, serve with a pitcher of hot water or milk and enjoy!
Recipe Tips and Advice
Equipment – A few recommended things you’ll need for this recipe is a charcuterie board of your choosing. If you don’t have one, any large plate or serving tray will work as well. You may also want a few bowls to put the hot cocoa mix in. Lastly, you’ll either want some cute hot cocoa mugs or disposable hot beverage cups to serve the drinks in.
This round serving tray is almost identical to the board I used for these photos. You can also find cute ones at Home Goods, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and so on.
You can use an insulated vacuum drink dispenser for hot chocolate or warm milk if desired. Cost Plus has an absolutely adorable hot cocoa themed one that would be perfect (I’ve already ordered one!). Another awesome option is the Nostalgia Retro Hot Cocoa Maker & Frother. My aunt has one and I always look forward to that hot cocoa every Christmas!
CHARCUTERIE PRO TIP
When assembling a charcuterie board of any kind, you want to space out the ingredients in a way that will really make the board pop. Try not to put similar colored or shaped things next to each other on the board. For example, don’t put peppermint next to peppermint or chocolate next to chocolate.
Recipe FAQs
For this specific board, you’ll need a thermos or kettle to keep your milk or water hot, and then add the mix to the liquid when you’re guests are ready to serve themselves. If you’d rather have the hot chocolate made beforehand, you can serve warm hot chocolate out of a crockpot.
Water may be easier to use and keep warm if you’re serving this at a party, but milk does give the hot cocoa a creamy, rich taste.
