Happy Valentine’s Day! This morning my daughter went to school with plenty of Valentine’s treats in hand. Unfortunately here in AZ the kids can not take ANYTHING homemade to school to share (such a bummer when you have a mom who LOVES to bake!!!). Though I guess as a mom of a child with food allergies (all nuts) it probably is for the best to always have labels available, but it’s not nearly as fun. However there are no rules against taking the staff some homemade treats. She took chocolate covered pretzels in for the office staff and the rice krispy pops in for all of the 2nd grade teachers.
I wanted to get more pictures of our packaging, but the weekend was crazy. We hosted our first slumber party, and can I just say, however much I spent having parties at Build A Bear and Pump It Up, it was TOTALLY worth it! I think everyone had a good time, but between the lack of sleep and constant girl drama (what on earth will it be like when they are 15????) it was exhausting. So I didn’t get the packaging photos or last minute baking done for Valentine’s Day that I wanted.
We have a friend who makes the yummiest cakes, so she made Bella’s cake. I have found in the past that I darn near kill myself coming up with an impressive cake for birthdays, and that my stress level is much lower if I just let someone else do it. It’s almost like my love of baking makes it worse because I want to make something that’s completely amazing and perfect, and that’s a lot of pressure.
We also had chocolate fondue for the girls which was a big hit. We put it in individual ramekins, which allowed us to avoid the possible swapping of germs and stabbing each other with fondue forks. I put out strawberries, bananas, marshmallows and rice krispies treats to dip, and they seemed to like all of them.
I hope everyone has a great Valentine’s Day! Here are my two sweeties this morning. With seven years between the girls, dressing them the same is not something that happens very often, but is so darn cute when it does.
